When does the madness stop?

We all know that we are fooled by advertising every day. We get promised all kinds of wonderful things that turn out not to be that wonderful after all (i.e. "shoe shelves", former post).

But now things run out of hand! The image on the left shows a game of memory (for innocent children). On the front of the box, you are promised wonderful imagery of smiling lions, yellow and green triangles and big juicy strawberries; FORGET IT! AINT GONNA HAPPEN! I found the cards that come closest by the front cover images. The strawberry is half as juicy, the lion doesn't look happy at all and the green triangle turns out to be red. For the private investigators under us, you might even have noticed that the two lions on the box not even are the same... WHERE DOES THIS END?! (No miracle the world is in such poor shape these days)

Flying Eagle

I was so lucky to run into 4 boxes "Flying Eagle" for 2,98 kr a piece. The box contains 16 colours, non-toxic that is.

Flying Eagle... sounds like "Swimming Fish" or "Digging Mineworker", I love China...
It seems like Flying Eagle changhed their business over the years though. That's why the eagle in the logo flies in the other direction I guess...

Shoe shelves

When you see them in a shop you think: "How could I ever live without shoe-shelves, I need two at the least!". The image on the left shows our half-year-old shoe-shelves. I didn´t feel like taking another picture from the rest of our hallway, filled with shoes.

Shoe-shelves are a misunderstanding. The only type of shoes that fit on it are those worn out all-stars, not the fancy boots that need care and attention. The solid-stainless-steel looking shelves turn out to be highly instable, especially when packed with shoes. They are very flexible, meaning that if you try to put the final pair of shoes on the shelve, the shelve starts jumping up and down, throwing all shoes off...

If anybody has a good idea what to use already-on-the-wall-mounted-shoe-shelves for, please comment on this post.

Faces 6: boats in Rotterdam

I got this picture from Niels: "two gruffy boats in Rotterdam".

The more faces I recognise in objects, the more I wonder whether designers are influenced in their unconsciousness by the "pattern" of a face when designing. Does anybody feel like doing a PHD on this? Would love to read the conclusions.

Wonderful wonderful internet

One of the things I really like about the internet is having access to random information easily in order to get new inspiration, a tool used very actively in creative thinking.

At my work we make computer games for interactive television. Once we had to make a game with Scooby Doo as the main character. For the sake of the game-play, it would be best if Scooby would walk on two legs only (standing up). Cartoon Network was fine with the idea if only we could proof that Scooby performs this behaviour in an existing cartoon. I started searching on the internet for a Scooby standing on his back-legs and found the picture above.

The picture got lost on the internet though, "old stuff must go, yoo-hoo" (quote Dutch writer Kees van Kooten). Still, I think it's a loss that Scooby the donkey went so silent. Therefore I chose his picture (of all my random-pictures-database) to be on my blog, Scooby forever!

If Scooby reads this post, please give me a call, I would like what you are doing these days (do you use LinkedIn?)
